 DIY Sun Costume for Kids You are my sunshine , my only sunshine !  That's what I kept on singing when I saw my tod turned into a cute sunshine for his school fancy dress competition. Mr. Sun was very happy and looked excited while wearing this Diy Cardboard Sun and a crown.  This DIY is really a special one as its Jordan 1st fancy dress competition . Also the sun costume was made by both, Mommy and Daddy.  I'll be sharing below all it took to make this simple DIY and what materials we used to create this costume. Materials :  Regular Size White Cardboard/ cardstock A round shaped object Scale and Pencil Craft Knife/ Scissors Orange /mustard color and Yellow Acrylic Paint Paint brush and Palette Black Construction paper ( optional Maroon color )  Glue Tape and Yellow Satin Ribbon DIY Sun Costume Instructions :  The idea was to create a simple sun costume that would make my little one comfortable while wearing it and also look cute at the same time.  Here are few steps I took to

 Lacing Pasta Fine Motor Activity for Kids



Yummy Yummy Pasta !

That's the reference my little one gives to me when he sees the pasta packet in my hand !

Its always fun to have kids do interest led activities and pasta is one of Jordy's favorite . 

Kids love noodles , macaroni's and pasta and including them in an activity is perfect way of practicing fine motor skills .

This activity is inexpensive and can be played in many different ways . 

Here's the materials you'll need to do this threading fine motor activity.

  • A shoe lace
  • Pasta in a bowl 
  • Tray 

That's it !

The set up is quite simple and will hardly take a minute .


Lacing Activity for Preschoolers 
  • Let your child hold the shoe lace in one hand and a pasta in another . 
  • While your child holds pasta in one hand, the other hand in working on pushing the lace in from one end and the pulling the lace out from the other end.
  • Since there is a technique involved, this activity is challenging for your kids . However, assist and encourage your child on how the activity needs to be done.

My little one got easily tired doing this activity as it was quite challenging in the beginning . 

It takes time for kids to understand the technique of how to play this activity . 

If an activity is challenging , I usually display the activity materials on the shelf for the whole week, where its easily available for my little one to play around . 

In just 2 days I saw a drastic change . Jordy's hand movement were quick and he made a big pasta chain / necklace. 


Lacing Activity for Toddlers

You can start the lacing activity for 1 year old by either using a string or pipe cleaners and have kids insert pasta into it .

You can slowly advance to threading with shoe lace or ribbons.
